Goodbye MetroPCS
Goodbye MetroPCS
Firstly let me just say I am not ashamed to admit that for the last five plus, years I have been a loyal customer of MetroPCS, but the time has come to not only say goodbye but good riddance. Now I never initially had any major issues with MetroPCS, when I first came to this country it was the understandable choice, no credit so “status” so you technically have to do what you have to do to keep channels of communication going. A good friend of mine at the time, had the “hook up” and helped me to get a Blackberry (geeez that was an actually a thing once) and that was all I needed, I knew how much my bill would be every month, no surprises, I could still stay in contact with friends and family, here and abroad so it was cool. The only mistake I think I made was having the insurance.
That insurance is daylight robbery, it’s cool to have a protection plan for your device, especially with a budget phone company where you have to pay full price for the device. But what’s not so cool is the fuckery, that in the event your handset goes bad to the point they have to replace it, it’s a luck of the draw if you get a new replacement handset of refurbished one, plus the asinine deductible.
I’ve been through one new Blackberry, two refurbished Blackberries, one same model as the first, then an “upgrade” which had less spec than the last one. Then two refurbished LG phones. I hope I never have to own another LG phone in life, they are absolute trash. Anyway after my last LG phone decided to start having a mind of its own, and since it was technically a “Hey you’ve been a loyal customer all these years” have an “upgraded model” on us and some accessories while you’re at it, want a case? Here it go, headphones? No problem, screen protector? no problem. Now before when I got a replacement handset the fine print was clear, this phone comes with a 1 year warranty, anything goes wrong, we will replace it, although it might not be a “new phone”. I just wanted a phone that works. So again my piece of feces phone starts acting up. I take it to a store, not the regular store, the one of two main “corporate” stores, the amazon lady takes my phone, checks the system, then does a diagnostic on the phone determines it’s a piece of feces, then looks at me and say’s of it will be this to replace the phone today or we will ship it to you for this!! I look at her like what are you talking about? you’re charging me for what exactly? The phone in under warranty, what is the problem? She looks me in the face and says “our policy stats” if the phone is not working properly within 30days, we can exchange it for free! I ask when did this policy change? she says that has always been our policy. I say no it’s not I have been here before, I got previous faulty handset replaced for free, by the short cute manager chic, I know the she/dude cute dyke chic standing right there, am i suddenly in a parallel universe?
Anyway long story short, I was not about to pay to replace a faulty shit phone, with the same exact model that is faulty. To top that I will have to replace that phone with one that works on the new T-mobile network. So you want to jip me twice, really? And the model you recommend is again a less spec that my previous phone, so I have to pay for an upgrade that is technically a downgrade? I basically was better off buying a damn BLU 5.0 or something.
I will miss a few services from MetroPCS, like free or inclusive international text, something also very simple, like if someone calls me from overseas aka incoming international call, I am not charged for that call, this was one of the feature that cause me not to switch a long time ago, they also had a $5 additional for free international calls, but Barbados was not on the list, yet Trinidad was go figure, so i never added that. Anyway on to what I hope is a better network, I’m paying a little more, than I was before and my bill may fluctuate, but I’m a big boy now I’m sure I can handle a surprise or two.
