Guinea Pig Son Commercial
Guinea Pig Son Commercial
I truly am a sucker for a good commercial and this latest one from PETCO as part of their Holiday sales promotion is my favorite commercial at the moment. The black family dynamic is a plus for me personally, well obviously, but I wonder if this commercial is national or just targeted in certain markets. I reiterate the fact that I need to find a way to make this my day job, I still have the writing and story boarding skills. Would be fun to get back into the TV business on the production side.
The TV commercial break down
:
It’s Christmas morning a mother and father are sitting down sipping from their mugs, with their son together around the Christmas tree unwrapping his gifts. As the little man picks up a small box, the mother asks her husband what’s in the box? He replies that he really wanted a guinea pig. They continue to watch their son vigorously shake the box, banging it slightly on the floor with that childlike exuberance trying to guess what the gift would be. As the mother continues to watch, a little expression of shock and horror in her eyes, she asks the laid back dad if he placed the guinea pig inside the box, the same one her son is shaking and banging, slowly destroying. He replies that he thought it’d be nice if they could pick out the guinea pig together, his son discovering the gift card for PETCO in the box, declares yeaaa Guinea Pig, dad replies Guinea Pig son!
Simplicity yes but a little slice of genius to me, the first version of this commercial had the dad saying something smart to the wife, like “is the guinea pig in the box” all sarcastic
