Rihanna in new Dreamworks film

Rihanna in new Dreamworks film

Ok firstly let me say I was kinda confused when I saw the headline

Rihanna is voicing Dreamworks’ first Black female lead character in a film called Home.

At first I thought great, the Bajan diva is making more strides with her stardom, she’s playing a main character called Tip, so of course I watched the trailer, then I think, hummmm I’ve seen this trailer before, but it was a movie called Almost Home starring Steve Martin.

There was no mention of Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez or RiRi. I just thought it was some talking minions knockoff, so really didn’t think I’d see the film until it reached DirecTV and I had time to kill to peek it. So now this new trailer has me all skeptical at the timing. So many questions like “is Dreamworks trying to capitalize on Rihanna’s recent controversy? No nahhhh that couldn’t be the reason, publicity for a “kids” movie over the hub bub over some fashionable titties out there aka “wardrobe malfunction” pics causing a media shit storm. It’s not February so black history month is not the reason. Anyway whatever the reason, I’m just proud of this Bajan lady from a little ass rock in the Caribbean doing big things on an international level.

The premise of the film is basically the “alien” named Oh voiced by Jim Parsons and Tip aka Rihanna team up to save Earth, should be some jokes, some moral lesson…. the end. As I said before I’ll give it a look-see, show the bajan gal some support.

May your star keep on shining RiRi.
