Couple weeks ago the proprietor of this establishment gave me a call to inform me that the restaurant would be closing. At first I thought what excellent customer service, but then I thought damn, there goes the best damn Roti to be had on the south side of town.
I don’t even remember how I discover this place, I think it was after I refuse to get anymore food from the Jamaican spot on Ole National which will forever remain nameless, because for some reason they served me burnt up food more than twice. How the hell do you burn salmon? What’s really funny, when other people would go to collect the food, they had no issues, but the one day I wore my Barbados flag dogtags in this place, I get burn food. Now of course this could be a coincidence, but I could careless, I work to hard for my my coin to take chances on a place that will serve burnt food.
So I came across the Vincy Trini Roti shop in Riverdale about 20mins from my house at the time and it became a regular stop every Friday night. Same order every time;

Boneless chicken Roti non spicy wrapped please

Now the key here was phone in your order ahead of time, cus if you don’t the wait will drive you insane smelling dem food fragrance coming out the kitchen, plus it stuck to your clothes so going out afterwards would be a problem. But even if you called ahead, a small wait was still required, but who cares. These Rotis were well worth it, dem tings were giant, huge, packed with plenty meat and potatoes the type of meal to give you instant ethnic fatigue mix with island slumber. The ladies behind the counter were always friendly and courteous, especially the cute smile, bright eyes fluffy dark skin lass and “the model” who would make an appearance every now and then, but not to regular and de pay with cash discount never hurt either.

The only bad memory I had of this place, had nothing to actually do with the place. Of all the times I was speeding on the hwy just to get there before 9:30 closing time and was never stopped. The first time I was ever in life pulled over and by the dreaded Riverdale Police was one cold ass November night last year, drive from Norcross to Riverdale, still had to go Stone Mountain and Smyrna and all just for a mouth-watering boneless chicken non spicy wrapped roti. I almost got my car impounded on some uninformed set up bullshit (long story). But luckily the cop acted human that night, gave me a ticket let be on my way.

Anyway so it’s been many months since I had been down to Riverdale for dem succulent roti. A few times I drove down just to find the store closed and they would still deliver in front the location, it would just be a small wait, but again small tings. I surely will miss this spot, now they have a delivery service, which I will definitely utilize sometimes, because even if different Caribbean food spots in Atlanta GA have Rotis. The Vincy/Trini Roti shop is the absolute best

So people who live in Atlanta or Visiting.
Give dem a call if Roti yah craving!!
