California first state to ban plastic bags

This morning as usual watching the news while getting ready for another daily trip to the grind plantation. I see this headline;

Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed the nation’s first statewide ban on single-use plastic bags at grocery and convenience stores, driven to action by pollution in streets and waterways.

I think to myself good for him, millions of plastic bags/products which take years to break down if at all, this could reduce that and help that state and could set the benchmark for other cities, states etc. Now i am not a hippie ass save the planet sorta guy, but i do recognize an opportunity to do the right thing, or at least put a step in the right direction. so before I can get my kudos out to Gov. Jerry Brown, this bullshit is the news headline.

A national coalition of plastic bag manufacturers immediately said it would seek a voter referendum to repeal the law, which is scheduled to take effect in July 2015.

Another case of douche-bag corporation seeking profits over environment, not even environment, just common sense. How about these fuck-wad plastic bag manufacturers put their profits into developing a new form of plastic product, one that can be strong enough to carry groceries but break down, helping to reduce some environmental pollution. If they were smart with all the government incentives, tax breaks for developing new products that help the environment, these cunt would redirect their energies. but alas it’s America, where profit is king and common sense is random and shouted down!!
