The Gambler Official Trailer
The Gambler Official Trailer
Very few movies have peaked my interest in 2014. A lot of them fell short even at the trailer, even with a a-list actor as the lead a lot of movies this year just sucked. Now this movie has two actors I happen to think make great movies and one as a character actor is awesome. Mark Wahlberg makes great movies, he’s just been going from strength to strength and John Goodman he was hilarious in Rosanne but ever since Big Lebowski, this guy has brought classic moments to the screen. Now usually trailers have to wow me to even go to investigate what the movie is actually about, I’ll go to the studio site and read the synopsis with a keen desire if the trailer is that good. However in this case all it took for me to actually want to see this movie with an eagerness of a young boy seeing the insides of some panties for the first time?
This:
If I give you this money and you don’t pay me back, I will kill your entire BLOODLINE! Do you understand the gravity of this situation?
Your entire bloodline? cheeeeezus!! who says that? Plus it has Omar Little, a dude that seems to be gaining that title of hardest working black man in Hollywood. Ok fine, his name is Michael Kenneth Williams of The Wire and Boardwalk Empire fame.
So here’s the synopsis:
Jim Bennett (Academy Award®-nominee Mark Wahlberg) is a risk taker. Both an English professor and a high-stakes gambler, Bennett bets it all when he borrows from a gangster (Michael Kenneth Williams) and offers his own life as collateral. Always one step ahead, Bennett pits his creditor against the operator of a gambling ring (Alvin Ing) and leaves his dysfunctional relationship with his wealthy mother (Academy Award®-winner Jessica Lange) in his wake. He plays both sides, immersing himself in an illicit, underground world while garnering the attention of Frank (John Goodman), a loan shark with a paternal interest in Bennett’s future. As his relationship with a student (Brie Larson) deepens, Bennett must take the ultimate risk for a second chance…
