2016 Another year another Arsenal failure
2016 another year another Arsenal failure
A long time ago Kermit the frog sang a song, it’s not easy being green, today I definitely feel like Kermit the frog, sitting on that bog, strumming the guitar, but singing a totally different song same key. My song you ask…
It’s not easy being an Arsenal F.C fan.
On the back of watching your teams last real hope of some silverware this season fade away to a team that should have been dismissed. A team which has a beast of a striker ( Igahlo ) I said should have been in an Arsenal kit, bought during the transfer window back in January 2016, a team which for all intents and purposes should not be able to walk in Arsenal’s shadow on a good day. But never the less they took Arsenal out from repeating a victory of the FA Cup.
Moving on to what many saw as impossible anyway…. Arsenal bowed out of the Champions League in the round of 16 for the sixth straight season. Arsenal could not pull off the shocking come-back victory at Camp Nou against Spanish giants Barcelona after going down to them at home during the first leg. Plagued by injury and fielding what many called a safe option team to avoid even more injuries, arsenal did play well in spots but as I said failed to secure a win and unceremoniously dismissed from the competition. Bright spots were no injuries and Elneny scoring his first goal for Arsenal and what a beauty, also Iwobi shined in midfield with some nice linkup play to Welbeck.
So at this point all that’s left is the near impossible task of winning the league. To do this, Arsenal has to play 10 games and win each one of those match ups, no draws no losses…. Impossible no, but this is Arsenal F.C we’re talking about here. Once again the team is playing with key players out injured, chasing their north London rivals and watching a team with no pressure or expectation run away with the points at the top of the league winning game after game. Coming off back to back looses I will be watching this next match against Everton with keen interest, just to see who shows up. Will these players now realizing they have nothing else to play for take to the field as Gunners or deflated players just riding out the season to summer break? Will they are the very least get to second place and shut up the Flopenham faithful. Will Arsene Wenger finally splash some cash this summer or resign? What will Arsenal do now??
Regardless I will ride with my team, Gooner for life, I won’t make silly bets like if Flopenham place above Arsenal in the league table at the end of the season, I will wear a Flopenham kit for the 2016/17 season, that would not be a lack of faith in my team it’s just that I’d hate myself too much
