Atlanta Falcons Fire Coach Smith
Atlanta Falcons Fire Coach Smith
Well folks that relationship between the NFL team, Atlanta Falcons and Coach Mike Smith had to end sometime and that time is now. I actually thought he would have been fired last year, but maybe just maybe Arthur Blank had some sympathy for him after his heart episode.
I wonder if this also means that F-150 commercial will stop running immediately.
After a 6-10 lack luster season and an abysmal final game of the season against their divisional rivals Carolina Panthers, which saw them getting a royal ass cutting 3- 34, including all manner of defensive and offensive blunders, I’m surprised they didn’t fire him at the post game press conference. But given the response of the players in yesterday’s game, they all probably knew what was about to happen. The suspicious “leak” of the news that a firm was retained to start a search for a new head coach is probably what we all heard but in the back office and practice fields they players already got the news Mike Smith was out the building.
There’s no denying Mike Smith did great things for the Falcons, he did have some great seasons but the last two just stunk up the dome, his sideline antics were so laid back, I often wondered if he cared anymore, he showed more passion in the HBO Hardknocks series than anything on the field. I wonder if Blank dismissed him with the grace and dignity coach Mike Smith had done to all the players in the Hardknocks episodes or did he just get the GM Thomas Dimitroff to toss him out. Still don’t understand how he gets to keep his job, but coach smith is out, that’s amazing. Also Matt “Matty Ice” Ryan, oh my universe, why does he even have that name, the ice in him is ass melted as the ones in all those buckets used in the various ice bucket challenges, this guy sucks bigtime, mr non dependable, will he be replaced of at least have some stiff competition, his season record may not be the worst but it has to be pretty close.
So what comes next, promoting from within, or actually going out and finding a replacement, and how will the players react to the new coach, it’s a long off-season and lots of changes will happen, hopefully they will be positive and the Falcons can indeed RISE UP!!!
Well all the best Coach Mike Smith, I’m sure you will land on your feet, or kick them up somewhere and relax for a while.
Thank you for all you’ve done for my team
