Survivor’s Remorse Cancelled on Starz
Survivor’s Remorse Cancelled on Starz
Well it’s the end of the road for one of TV’s feel good shows. Survivor’s Remorse after only four seasons, won’t survive to see a fifth season, The sports comedy starring Jesse T. Usher aka Cam Calloway is ending after a nice run on Starz.
Truth be told and this is just my opinion here, this season was hit or miss for me. The story lines often seemed disjointed, lacking substance and any kind of connectivity. The last couple of episodes almost came across as if different writers had replaced the original ones, again different story lines just jumping back and forth like Cassie’s journey into the catholic faith, that weekend getaway between Cam and Alison, and is M-chuck even a lesbian anymore? Was there a conscious effort to tone her “sexual shenanigans” down? Some of it just came across as weird, leaving me staring at the remote thinking what the f*ck did I just watch and why.
I will miss the interactions between the Vaughn family, Missy Teyonah Parris & Reggie. RonReaco Lee Now that was a great example of BlackLove from a budding power couple. However I won’t miss the serious lack of chemistry between Alison and Cam. Their onscreen chemistry is almost as bad if not worse than Dominic Toretto and Letty in Fast & Furious.
But back to what I will miss… M-chuck‘s classic and random series of tirades, the long winded speeches, I often wondered if half of that was adlibs and how many takes did she go through to get it all. Not to mention her back dimples lawd lawd. Da Chen Bao‘s killer one liners when told “get the f*ck out” and Momma Cassie Calloway straight up loose lipped lunacy.
I read an article stating the show only had a million viewers once in its four seasons run. That’s kind of sad, considering it is on the same network as Power and it’s a decent show, with a good cast of actors. I wonder if the numbers fell lower after they killed off the Uncle Julius character. The show seemed to get more “serious” after that. Oh well maybe King Lebron James can pull some favors and get another network to pick it up…maybe Neflix or Amazon.
I bet money Teyonah Parris is the first to land a new role somewhere.
R.I.P to Erica Ash
